Fuel spills in Musconetcong River
A significant amount of diesel fuel spilled into the Musconetcong River yesterday, according to news reports.
Bloomsbury residents near the river yesterday apparently awoke to a strong smell of the fuel. The Express-Times says the spill of possibly hundreds of gallons originated at the Travel Centers of America truck stop on Route 173.
The fuel has reached the Delaware River, according to the paper, and it was unclear as of this afternoon whether it was still spreading. State officials and clean water advocates have been working to assess the damage, and cleanup is under way, according to WFMZ-TV.
