Thoughts on Lisa Jackson from around the Web

The Internet was abuzz today and yesterday with comments on Lisa P. Jackson, Obama’s widely reported pick for EPA administrator.

A blog of the New Republic had Jeff Tittel calling PEER’s anti- Jackson memo/letter to President-elect Obama “total crap” and saying the group has little on-the-ground presence in New Jersey. Tittel also said Jackson was a bright spot in New Jersey and blame for the state’s mixed environmental record should rest with Gov. Corzine.  And deflected other PEER criticisms. (Weeding Through Controversy Over Obama’s EPA Pick)

Politicker NJ had Tittel praising Jackson too. (Tittel delighted by Obama’s selection of Jackson at EPA)

A ThinkProgress blogger had Gov. Corzine saying Jackson “has done a remarkable job of trying to move the environmental agenda forward within a constrained world.” (Corzine: Lisa Jackson ‘Has Done a Remarkable Job’)

Bloggers at AlterNet said Jackson will have a tough road to travel after the “abysmal” current chief, Stephen Johnson, leaves, and mentioned her “mixed record” in New Jersey, giving type to PEER’s critique, Corzine’s praise, and Jackson’s success in pushing for greenhouse gas reductions. (Obama’s Enviro Team Begins to Take Shape)

Christie Whitman told MSNBC (via the Associated Press) that Jackson “brings credibility from the environmental community” to the job. (Whitman: Obama’s EPA Pick Brings Credibility)

And Gristmill had a nice long post on Jackson reactions pro and con. (Transition talk: Jackson action)

Nice roundup, Jennifer. And you’ll like this League of Conservation Voters press release today saying Jackson helps give Obama a “dream team”

I urge readers to study the content of the record, not the press releases and sound bite spin

The PEER press release provides inks to documents that support the claims.

Have others that support Jackson done so?
