A federal judge today denied a request by the Surfrider Foundation to delay a beach replenishment project in Long Branch until sand being trucked there from the ocean floor near Sandy Hook could be tested for hazardous substances. The sand being dredged up to fight beach erosion is close to sources of pollution and wastewater, including outfall from New York Harbor, says the Asbury Park Press.

The walkable Morristown’s latest redevelopment proposal, for the predominantly Hispanic Speedwell section: 650 residential units, 35,000 square feet of retail and office space and 822 parking spaces. It apparently could be approved by the town council as soon as Tuesday.

Stymied, at least as of a meeting last night: Plans for redevelopment around the Princeton Junction train station.

A sick dolphin found in the Shrewsbury River has been euthanized. Meanwhile, a green sea turtle stuck in the southern end of the river has been saved!
