Jackson tapped for Obama transition team
New Jersey DEP commissioner Lisa Jackson has been named to President-elect Obama’s Energy and Natural Resources transition team. The appointment was announced officially yesterday, says the Associated Press. Her job, as an EPA Review Team Lead, is listed on Obama’s website change.gov.
She had been slated to start as Gov. Corzine’s chief of staff Dec. 1; she reportedly is still preparing for that job while taking on the new one.
She keeps being mentioned, along with others, as being in the running for another EPA role - its chief.
“The transition is a burst of work,” Jackson said in her first public comments after the key transition teams were announced. “We will be doing it very quickly. At this point, I’m still doing both jobs. I’m in Jersey a majority of the time, beginning the transition into the chief of staff job.”
Jackson said she and 11 others on the energy and natural resources transition team will “gather information and listen so the next leadership will be ready on day one.”
