Free NJ Transit for vets today

Veteran and current members of the U.S. military can ride free today to the Veterans Day dedication of the new Trenton World War II Memorial.

The free rides are available on NJ Transit bus, commuter train and light rail to anyone wearing a U.S. military uniform or presenting an ID card or a veterans organization membership card.

There’s a dedication ceremony for the memorial at 2 p.m. today, but the free rides don’t expire til midnight.

    To Whom It May Concern:

I am a veterans that served in Iraq now I am working with homeless veterans in Garfield, NJ (Bergen County) recovering from alcohol and substance abuse. I am Rhony Jeudy BS/Case Manager and advocating on the behalf of those veterans that do not have a voice. They are having a hard time commuting to look for work simply because they do not have the necessary funds to go on different interviews or even to go in other communities and fill out applications. I am asking for your help in some type of donations in getting free passes from NJ transit for 6 Veterans that reside in this transitional home. If all possible you can make the passes out for the month of September and October 09 so that we can have these veterans working as soon as possible. If not to your convenience any other month will do too. It will really buy them sometime to get a job and for them to get back on their feet. These humble veterans are just looking for a hand up. Please be that extended hand.

God bless, and thank you in advance for considering supporting us at the Alfred J. Thomas Home for Veterans.

    Sincerely yours
    Rhony Jeudy, Jr. BS/Case Manager
