Wayne seeks to limit turbines

Wayne’s Township Council is considering an ordinance that would restrict wind turbines in residential areas.

If it gets approved, turbines would not be allowed within 1,640 feet of residential neighborhoods, schools or day care centers, according to the Bergen Record. (A public hearing is scheduled for tomorrow’s council meeting.)

Robert Burke, owner of a car wash and quick lube in the township, has accused the council of targeting him with the ordinance — he plans to put up a 50-foot-high turbine at his business, which is about 120 feet from a preschool. He is scheduled to appear before the planning board in three weeks.
