No one knows what caused dozens of people to get sick today in a Newark apartment building.
City officials believe the illnesses may be linked to pests in the building — bedbugs, fleas and mice — or someone’s efforts to exterminate them.
Thirty-eight people were hospitalized, suffering from problems like puffy, irritated eyes, lightheadedness, irritated skin and sore throats.
