Aquatic adventure: An exploration of the Blue Mine Brook, with nets and buckets. Best for elementary-age kids. Today and July 20, 10 a.m. N.J. Audubon Society’s Weis Ecology Center, 150 Snake Den Rd., Ringwood. $8. Also at the ecology center this weekend: The Pine Meadow Loop, a 5-mile hike, led by Charlie Toole, from the southern end of Harriman State Forest, with a lunch stop at Pine Meadow Lake. Wear hiking footwear, appropriate clothes and bring something to eat and drink. Sunday, 9:30 a.m. $8.

Salt marsh safaris: View the film “Secrets of the Salt Marsh,” then take a guided walk of salt marsh trails and wetlands. Expect mud. Tomorrow and Sunday, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.; weekdays, 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Free with admission. The Wetlands Institute, 1075 Stone Harbor Blvd., Stone Harbor. Also at the institute this weekend: Hooked on fishing, a learn-to-fish session for kids. Tomorrow and every Saturday through Aug. 30, 10 a.m., and Thursdays at 5 p.m. Free with admission.

Freedom Fest Fair: An agricultural fair with animals, demonstrations, competitions, music, food and and games, going on through tomorrow at the Horse Park of New Jersey, 626 Route 524 (Allentown-Clarksburg Rd.), Allentown. $6; children 10 and under free. Today and tomorrow, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Colonial nature hike: A 2-mile, park ranger-led hike that includes a discussion on deer hunting and why it was banned in New Jersey in the 1700s. Tomorrow, 9:30 a.m., Jockey Hollow, Tempe Wick Rd., Morristown.

BlueBEARy Blast: A kid-focused celebration of the blueberry, with blueberries, crafts and a planting activity. Tomorrow, noon-4 p.m. Camden Children’s Garden, Camden City Garden Club, 3 Riverside Dr., Camden. Call (856) 365-8733 to reserve a spot. Admission is $6; kids, $4.
