Protest against park cutbacks today
Today at 12:30, environmentalists and historical activisits will gather in Trenton to protest Gov. Corzine’s proposed cutbacks at nine state parks and state-run historic sites.
The “Camp Out at the Capitol” protest is expected to begin with a parade of historical re-enactors along West State Street, says the Star-Ledger.
Before the protest, at 10 a.m., DEP commissioner Lisa Jackson is scheduled to go over the details of her department’s budget in the Statehouse Annex.

Update: Jackson apparently told those present that she expects the 12 state parks that were in danger to be kept open — but swimming and camping areas may be closed for staffing reasons.
