Governors to meet on climate change
At least five U.S. governors, including Corzine, are scheduled to meet with other politicians and environmental officials at Yale tomorrow to discuss climate change and develop an action plan.
Expected attendees include Christie Whitman, Arnold Schwarzenegger (California), Jodi Rell (Connecticut), Deval Patrick (Massachusetts) and Rod Blagojevich (Illinois).
Several of the governors are expected to sign a climate change declaration that addresses state and federal policymaking, according to event organizers.
Meanwhile, President Bush yesterday unveiled a new plan to stem climate change. He proposed reducing greenhouse gases… starting in 2025.
He opposes a Senate measure that would impose mandatory reductions starting in five years, followed by annual reductions. Hence, why a meeting of governors at Yale is necessary.
