Cleanup process under review today

New Jersey’s toxic site cleanup process will be discussed this morning at 10 a.m. at a joint hearing of Senate and Assembly environmental committees in Trenton.

Among other things, the committees are expected to consider: Establishing a licensing program to hold environmental consultants accountable, dedicating resources to the “most important” cases and giving the DEP new remedy selection authority.

From Politicker NJ:

According to (Sen. Bob Smith and Assemblyman John McKeon), The DEP is expected to highlight its plan to cut down on a backlog of more than 20,000 site remediation cases currently facing New Jersey.
