9 N.J. state parks may close

Click here to read about the recent proposal to shutter nine state parks and reduce services at three others. (Gov. Corzine has proposed cutting $8.8 million from the $34 million budget for the operation of the state parks.)

Read on for the parks targeted to close under the plan, which is scheduled to go into effect July 1.

Monmouth Battlefield State Park, Monmouth County.

Stephens State Park, Jenny Jump State Forest and Worthington State Forest, Warren County.

High Point State Park, Sussex County.

Brendan T. Byrne State Forest, Burlington County.

Round Valley Recreation Area, Hunterdon County.

Parvin State Park and Fort Mott State Park, Salem County.

The parks targeted to partially close: Ringwood State Park (Bergen and Passaic counties), D&R Canal State Park (central New Jersey) and Washington Crossing State Park (Mercer and Hunterdon counties).
