Marking the war’s 5th year

About 70 people gathered at the Statehouse today to protest the now 5-year-old Iraq War and demand that U.S. troops be brought home.

At least 88 soldiers with ties to New Jersey have been killed since the war began.

The war also has had tremendous environmental costs. From the pollution of Iraq’s air, water and land and the destruction of its infrastructure to the pollution of the surrounding region, the U.S.-led invasion will have an impact on human, animal and plant life for decades to come. The effects will be far-reaching, and it might be years before we even have a sense of what we’ve caused.
