Green Jersey week in review

  • We learned Eliot Spitzer’s call girl was a Jersey Girl and, in our spare time, calculated the minimum carbon impact of the couple’s tryst at the Mayflower Hotel: 355.5 pounds of CO2.*
  • We tried to envision the Donald’s plan for the Meadowlands, which includes more housing than we would have had under EnCap, none of it affordable.
  • We cast a disapproving glance at a panel that recommended the state relax its environmental rules to allow for more (affordable housing) development.
  • We applauded the Assembly for helping red knots by banning the harvesting of horseshoe crabs. (The Senate is set to vote on the crab ban tomorrow.)
*Estimate includes round-trip train and airplane trips from
New York to Washington, via the CO2 calculator at
transportdirect.info.
