Morris County community mourns peacock
Above: A white peacock (not the one in question)
A wild white peacock that had become something of a town mascot was killed earlier this week by a motorist.
The bird — Max to some, George to others — had apparently lived at the intersection of Meriden and Lyonsville roads in Rockaway Township.
He was one of three who escaped from a local home in 2004, according to this story in the Daily Record.
Also from the Daily Record:
While rare, feral peacocks can be found living in certain sections of the state, most notably at the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton.
