Green Jersey week in review
- We stared open-mouthed at Gov. Corzine’s budget, which includes a proposal to axe the Department of Agriculture. Farm advocates and the Highlands Council shared their thoughts on losing the D of A (namely, that it’s a terrible idea).
- We learned that Sen. Loretta Weinberg (D-Teaneck) and the N.J. Sierra Club want the feds to investigate EnCap, the company that didn’t deliver on its redevelopment plan for the Meadowlands. The state chided EnCap in a 277-page report, saying the company “mismanaged” its plan for the landfills.
- We read that the Sierra Club’s Jeff Tittel called John Adler (D-Camden) the biggest environmental advocate in the state legislature.
- We heard about Princeton University’s plan to reduce carbon emissions to 1990 levels by 2020. A few malls also got in on the act.
